After recently revealing the best-selling cars of 2023, we now visit the other end of the spectrum. Between January and October 2023 almost 800,000 vehicles were destroyed. Despite being a high number this is 60,000 less than the previous year. Add that to the fact that twice as many new cars and vans were registered during the same period. You’ll see why Britain’s roads are getting busier than ever.
Without further ado, here are the top 10 most scrapped cars in 2023:

| 8 | Ford Mondeo | 14,218 |
| 9 | Volkswagen Polo | 13,722 |
| 10 | BMW 3-series | 13,642 |
Over the same period in 2023, 1,889,758 new cars and vans were registered. According to the Mayor of London’s office, 37,200 of vehicles were scrapped their vehicles as part of the London ULEZ scrappage scheme. It’s worth noting that this is the number that were scrapped as part of the scheme. Many thousands more were likely scrapped due to drivers replacing them with ULEZ-compliant vehicles.
